CHALLENGE
Making car buying as easy as online shopping
The brief for OFF ROAD was – simply put – to make buying a used car online as easy as buying a pair of jeans.
The difference, however, was that the products on ALD’s shelf cost a bit more, were a bit bigger, and each one was entirely unique – every used car exists in only a single unit. On top of that, some of them had developed a bit of patina over time.
The entire market is highly regulated, and we had to develop three different financing options for the purchase. And no one had done it before.
SOLUTION
A digital buying experience built on transparency and trust
We developed a webshop where transparency and user experience are the top priorities.
Inspired by how the travel industry successfully sells both “cold facts” and “dreams,” we built an e-commerce platform that presents all the car’s technical specifications while also being visually appealing, featuring large 360-degree images of the vehicle.
With just a few clicks, users can find the right car, choose a financing method, and schedule home delivery straight to their doorstep.
RESULTS
Setting the benchmark for online used car sales
The response to the new Danish webshop exceeded all expectations.
ALD led the way in the digitalization and e-commerce development of the used car market in Denmark, and today, the website remains the industry’s benchmark for selling cars online. Nothing less.
Beyond a continuously growing share of online sales, the Danish platform has since been implemented in Portugal, Spain, and Germany.
OFF ROAD helped us build an e-commerce setup that was ahead of its time in the automotive industry. It positioned the Danish organisation as a frontrunner, and the experience later proved valuable for our global setup.
